For one of my changes, I chose to alter Clause 8 of Section 8, in Article I. Clause 8 states that laws must be passed by Congress in order to protect authors. They have established Copyright laws that enable users to steal creations from their authors. This set of laws protect protect authors ideas and their creativity. I decided to alter these Copyright laws, and change how much protection authors, songwriters, artists, and singers have. I abolished all the Copyright laws, which would give everyone the freedom to claim the work of others.
Therefore, one could sell a song, book, movie, or piece of artwork as "their own" creation and earn money for it, when normally, the hardworking author who created it would receive the money. This change would extremely negatively affect authors, artists, singers, and cinematographers. Because they are the ones putting time and effort into these creations, which now everyone could take credit for, it would significantly hurt them. They would no longer be able to support themselves off their current careers, because users would find free sources to their products instead of paying unnecessary money for something they can easily find for free, the authors wouldn't be able to support themselves any longer.
However, the audience for these products would be thrilled. They would no longer have to pay for their music, movies, TV shoes, books, magazines and countless other things, because everything could be found online, for free. Shortly after this new law was realized, consumers would be thrilled, while the creators would be devastated.
On the other hand, as more and more authors and creators began to struggle to pay their bills and make ends meet, they would find other jobs because the field they were currently involved didn't pay well. As time went by, authors, artists, singers and more would begin to look for work in other fields, and their current fields would be forgotten over time. No new movies, songs, magazines, and books would be realized, and art as a whole would extremely be minimized in the United States. Furthermore, this change would also negatively impact the economy. Because lots of our economy is focused on books, movies, magazines, and lots and lots of music, as all of these businesses fields decreased in ratings and earnings, the economy would also be at a loss.
