Clause 1: New States
Clause 1 or Section 3 in Article 4 states that no new states can be created by other states or the two houses, without the consent of Congress. In order for a new state in the US to be formed, the Congress must approve of the plan, as well as the states involved. This is important in order to keep peace between new states, and keeping states happy and satisfied with their property. It maintains a system of balance without forcing new outrageous ideas. I decided to change the fact that states and Congress must formally agree to form a new state within a former state or merge two states together. Without this law, new states would constantly be popping up in valuable territory, where there are numerous resources, and claiming them as their own. Each separate state would also be fighting for the best resources, because a new state or territory could be formed at any moment. Our nation as a whole would loose trust among the states, and we would no longer be the "United" States of America. Lots of lots of people would be effected by this change, because new taxes, laws, and adjustments would be made in every new state they became a citizen too. States with more resources would experience more changes, because more new people would want to create territories there and claim those resources for themselves. This change would significantly change our economy because some states that formally had lots of valuable resources that helped their economy grow, would be extremely struggling if they no longer owned those territories. Although some Legislature in new states that were being started in extremely valuable areas would be thrilled with this change, lots of other people wouldn't be. People in certain areas that are particular to their state would loose jobs, and our economy would significantly struggle. The effects of this would highly depend on location because states in good, valuable locations would be most affected by this change. Their economies would alter the most, because new states would most likely plant themselves down in valuable places, and steal the resources from the old states.
